Thanks to all the generous gifts from friends, family, and a few special people we’ve never met, tonight is splurge night. You can probably guess what that is. But, just in case you’re curious about what it means for us, it’s a night where we splurge on something from Keith’s list of foods he’s not allowed to eat often, or something that isn’t in the budget on a regular basis.
Tonight, we did a full splurge on something from both lists….we ordered a large Pizza!! For most of you, it may not seem like a big deal, but for us it’s huge. It’s probably been 3 or 4 months since we last got pizza, it’s not a necessary expense so we don’t get it. Keith’s diet is low sodium and low sugar, pizza does not fall into those categories. He is allowed to indulge once-in-a-while, but not often.
Our daughters have really been amazing through everything. They help around the house. They don’t complain when we can’t go out to do things, or buy things, or when we don’t get certain foods so they don’t tempt Keith. Tonight is a treat for them for all they’ve done and been through the last few months.
Thanks to all of the generous angels that have been so kind to us, Keith and I are able to give our girls something they haven’t asked for. Something they didn’t expect from us. Something small that will make a huge difference to us and go a long way to making use feel more normal.
Have a great weekend everyone. We’re going to settle in and clear out some space on our DVR.
